EAA Chapter 1710 Hosts First Hi-Max Aircraft Build Night
Clintonville, WI – EAA Chapter 1710 successfully hosted its first Hi-Max aircraft build night on Wednesday, May 6 at Clintonville Municipal Airport, bringing together aviation enthusiasts, builders, and members of the local community to begin work on the exciting experimental aircraft project.
The build night marks the beginning of a hands-on educational initiative focused on aircraft construction, mentorship, and growing interest in general aviation. Members and the local community had the opportunity to collaborate, learn new skills, and contribute to the assembly of the Hi-Max aircraft kit in a welcoming and team-oriented environment.
“We’re excited to launch this project and provide members and the local community with the opportunity to experience the aircraft building process firsthand,” said EAA Chapter 1710 leadership. “This build will help educate and inspire current and future aviators while strengthening our chapter community.”
EAA Chapter 1710 will continue hosting Hi-Max build nights on the:
- First Wednesday of each month
- Third Tuesday of each month
- Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Community members interested in aviation, aircraft building, or learning more about EAA Chapter 1710 are encouraged to attend future build nights and get involved.

EAA Chapter 1710 Launches 2026 Young Eagles Season
with Successful Rally in Clintonville
Clintonville, WI — May 9, 2026 — On Saturday morning, May 9th, EAA Chapter 1710 proudly hosted its first Young Eagles Rally of 2026, introducing 65 enthusiastic youth to the exciting world of aviation.
Volunteer pilots Mathieu Labs, Isaac Follett, Edward Jeziorny, Michael Ryszkiewicz, Colin Isom, Mike Bloedorn, and Christopher Gauger provided unforgettable introductory flights departing from Clintonville Municipal Airport. Each flight included a scenic route over Pine Lake, offering participants a memorable first experience in the sky.
The excitement extended beyond the flights, as young participants eagerly took turns in the cockpit, many for the very first time. Following their flight, each youth received a certificate of participation, a personal pilot logbook, and an AeroEducate aviation handbook filled with resources to continue their aviation journey.
Through the Young Eagles program, participants also gain access to a comprehensive educational package, including a free EAA Student Membership, complimentary access to Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course, a free introductory flight lesson, and coverage for the FAA Knowledge Exam, together valued at over $600.
Young Eagles Coordinator and pilot Mathieu Labs shared his excitement:
“Watching these young pilots take the controls is exhilarating, they’re naturals. The community’s support has been incredible, and it’s inspiring to see so many future aviators ready to soar.
A special congratulations goes to Colin Isom, who celebrated a milestone moment by flying his first Young Eagle.
This event was made possible thanks to the outstanding support of members from EAA Chapter 1710, the City of Clintonville Municipal Airport staff, the Clintonville Fire Department, Flight For Life (ThedaStar), the Clintonville School District, DC Aviation, the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce, EAA, and sponsors including the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Aeronautics, AOPA, and AVEMCO.

EAA Chapter 1710 Hosts First “Flying Start” Event in Clintonville
Clintonville, WI – On Saturday, May 16, EAA Chapter 1710 hosted its inaugural “Flying Start” learn-to-fly event at Clintonville Municipal Airport (CLI). Limited to ten participants, the event welcomed adults eager to explore aviation and take the first steps toward becoming pilots.
Designed for those curious about flying or who have always dreamed of taking to the skies, the program was led by chapter members, including Eagle Flight Coordinator Ed Jeziorny of Omro, WI, and Certified Flight Instructor Noah Lencki of Celestial Kinetics Flight Academy in Waupaca. The presentation outlined the process of earning a pilot’s license while encouraging attendees to ask questions and connect with resources to begin their aviation journey.
With favorable weather, all participants had the opportunity to take part in a discovery flight with a qualified pilot. Several pilots and flight instructors were on hand to provide a hands-on experience, including a preflight aircraft inspection, communication procedures, and the chance to take the controls in flight. The experience offered an exciting and memorable introduction to aviation.
EAA Chapter 1710, based in Clintonville, holds monthly gatherings on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The chapter is actively involved in aircraft homebuilding projects, promoting flight safety and pilot proficiency, and preserving aviation history. Upcoming events include Young Eagles flights and a summer BBQ Fly-In/Drive-In.

EAA Chapter 1710 Hosts Entertaining Red Bull Flugtag Presentation at Clintonville Airport
Clintonville, WI – On Wednesday, May 20, EAA Chapter 1710 welcomed the Gravity Gurus to the City of Clintonville Airport for a special evening presentation featuring Red Bull Flugtag.
The event, titled “Red Bull Flugtag: Gravity Gurus featuring The Flying Chicken,” brought together attendees for an evening filled with humor, aviation creativity, and behind-the-scenes stories from the world-famous human-powered flight competition.
Wisconsin aviation influencers Cheezepilot, Dirtbag pilot, and Aircraft_Mechanick shared their experiences competing in Red Bull Flugtag, including stories about designing and launching their aircraft, interacting with thousands of spectators, surviving on endless Red Bulls, collecting free towels, and becoming crowd favorites during the competition.
Their homemade flying creation, “The Flying Chicken,” soared an impressive 27 feet during the event and captured the attention of Flugtag fans across the region.
“We had a fantastic turnout and appreciate everyone who joined us for this unique presentation,” said representatives from EAA Chapter 1710. “Events like this help bring aviation enthusiasts together while showcasing the fun and creativity that aviation can inspire.”
The chapter hopes the team will qualify for the upcoming Red Bull Flugtag event in Minneapolis, where local supporters are eager to cheer them on once again.
